With all of these funky and eclectic features, the owners can easily keep Austin weird.
The poster-child for why Birmingham was noted in Outside Magazine's Best Towns list, this beautiful facility is actually one of two owned by the same climbers, Joe Ortega and Tim Diegmann. Dedicated specifically to bouldering, Joe and Tim expanded from the original facility First Ave Rocks to accommodate massive growth in the climbing community over the past years. Featuring just over 6,600 sq.ft. of climbing, the design relies on both ARC and MLM construction to provide challenge and variety to their member-base. Whats more, is the 1,500 sq.ft. of climbing walls in The Forge training area...More info
Brooklyn Boulders’ facilities are the nation’s premier climbing gyms in major metropolitan areas. Two New York City locations, Boston and Chicago, have all had VS design and manufacturing incorporated. Their brand of giving members much more than climbing walls, such as working & collaboration spaces, music/art performances and even TED Talks, has created a culture that resonates with these urban populations. This facility in the ultra up-and-coming Somerville neighborhood specifically features a 40,000 sq. ft. floor plan with 28,000 sq. ft. of climbing, a multitude of…More info

Continuing on their path of building more than just an indoor climbing gym, this Chicago location marks the expansion of BKB westward to deliver their third entry into a major metropolitan area. With this facility and the two before it, Brooklyn Boulders has not only proven, but refined their model for success. The Chicago population had a major need for a new type of workout facility that embodied and aligned with all of their interests; and BKB delivered in a big way. Providing a climbing community for urban populations is what BKB has mastered and continued to tackle, but they won’t settle for anything short of...More info
The owners of Übergrippen are essentially executing on the perfect plan of bringing a modern, design-driven facility to a city that couldn't be more deserving. Successful in their existing careers, Jake and Kim Crine decided to hang up the office commute and pursue their passion for climbing and entrepreneurship. Shortly after finding the ideal real estate to do so, they started building a 23,000 square foot facility and incorporating plans resulting in 16,000 square feet of route climbing and 2,500 square feet of bouldering . Most early-stage climbing gym owners would be satisfied with accomplishing...More info
Long Beach Rising was built for individuals who strive to be better today than they were yesterday. This all-bouldering gym features 5,000 square feet of climbing at a height of 15 feet as well as a fitness facility is housed in a historic 15,000 square foot building. To preserve the original wood truss framing of the roof, the floor of the main bouldering area was dug out allowing for higher boulder problems. With a balance between competition style climbing and outdoor training, Long Beach Rising has something for first-time climbers and professionals alike.
Longmont Climbing Collective is a perfect example of how dedicated climbing industry pros Mack and Bryan saw an opportunity to go next-level with their community engagement. As owner/operators of Butora USA, they are no stranger to the climbing industry, but their vision wasn't going to stop at shoes. They decided to tap into the wildly underserved Colorado Front Range market, and produce this stunning and ultra well-thought out 16,000 sq.ft. facility with approximately 7,000 sq.ft. of climbing surface. They used freestanding and building-anchored designs, with both ARC and MLM construction...More info
Opened in 2013, this bouldering-specific facility located on the Upper East Side of New York City packs a lot into a small space. This climbing gym features over 2000 square feet of climbing walls, using ARC designs for curved features throughout. It is impressive how easily you can get your fix for climbing met in the middle of the largest metropolitan area in the US. The unique dimensions of the space required proper planning ahead of time to maximize the floor plan for climbing square footage, fall zones, customer ease of approach and one seriously steep cave design feature.More info
When Steep Rock Bouldering owner Michael Cesari came to us with his location for his second gym, we were more than psyched. SRB West as it would be called, was targeting a beautiful building around Columbia University, where the exterior featured a full glass facade. Unlike his original location which features a shotgun-style exterior where little is seen by passers-by, Vertical Solutions had to create something that would be on public display for 24 hours a day. The challenges of this, plus a multi-floor design, efficient use of space and New York City logistics in general make this project an absolute stand-out...More info
For more than three decades, The Front Climbing Club has been the destination for climbing, fitness, yoga and hanging with friends while forgetting about the grind of daily routines.
The Front has grown from meager, bouldering-only beginnings to cutting-edge rock climbing and fitness utopias, and we were proud to help them add a third facility to the fold – a ground-up lifestyle gym in the newly-minted Town of Millcreek – just ten minutes south of their Salt Lake City headquarters...More info
When the owner of Nashville's first climbing gym decided it was time to expand to a second location, he did so with a plan and a purpose. Always viewed as the testing grounds for an eventual second gym, owner Newton Dominey took everything learned from the previous 8 years and compiled it to produce this unbelievably stunning flagship 17,000 sq.ft. example with 12,500 square feet of climbing. The Crag is a community showpiece with 9,000 sq.ft. of route climbing, 3,500 sq.ft. of bouldering, 12 auto-belay lines, large retail space, large training area and yoga space and some of the sexiest climbing wall designs ever made by man...More info
As Norfolk's first dedicated rock climbing facility, Latitude Climbing and Fitness is all about community. Whether climbing, practicing yoga or working out this gym has something for the whole family with a children's specific climbing area. With extensive space dedicated to socializing, co-working and après climbing activities, Latitude spared no expense on their non-climbing amenities.
The sister facility to The Front Climbing Club in SLC, Ogden is an equally impressive facility in its own right, being located in a stunning downtown historic building with challenging interior architecture. Similar to its SLC sister, Ogden opted to design and build a combination of ARC and MLM indoor climbing wall systems that utilize an existing open and airy layout in lieu of maximized climbing area. With that said, there are some very inventive spaces that distinguish the facility from the norm. Taking this design approach allowed the owners to create additional usable area in the form of a mezzanine...More info

You would think having built three indoor climbing gyms in major metropolitan areas previously, that the teams at BKB and VS would have seen and adapted to it all. But this location, which serves a different subset of New York City’s nearly 8.5 million residents, proved there were still many new challenges out there in order to deliver a new type of indoor climbing facility to an underserved community. It’s hard enough to design and construct any type of new business in a city like New York City, but it was incredibly important for the owners of Brooklyn Boulders to return to their roots and...More info

Santa Fe Climbing Center is the poster child for what happens when a business owner dedicates themselves to the climbing community they serve. With decades of history behind it, the owners decided that growth was the key and built a complete replacement facility. Modernization with gorgeous wood walls was compulsory, yes, but deviation in their focus and floor plan was not. SFCC maintained their 100% dedication to core climbing audience by throwing every square foot they had in the new facility at climbing only, no other distractions. With that in mind, future proofing was also a…More info
CIBA Climbing Gym’s mission is to provide patrons of all ages a fun, controlled climbing gym environment in which to exercise, socialize, and gain new climbing skills. The owners knew they had the community support to justify their vision, as their community is small, but highly focused on climbing. It was important that they not loose sight of the goals, and planned the size of their project and climbing walls appropriately without breaking the bank to accomplish it. They focus on the fundamentals and sharing the joy of climbing with individuals of all ages and skill levels so one main…More info
Ground Up built a well-deserved indoor climbing gym with Vertical Solutions that is every bit as beautiful inside as B.C. is outside. The owners wanted their facility to have a balance focused on rope climbing, but their bouldering wall couldn’t be lacking in appearance. As a result they dedicated most of the 8,000 sq. ft. wall space to rope climbing, but the 16 ft. tall & 94 ft. long bouldering wall is a standout not to be taken lightly. At that height and with compound curves throughout, the result is somehow both aesthetically inviting from afar and menacing on the approach. Aesthetics were ultra…More info
The BLOC indoor rock climbing gym is a 20,000 square foot dedicated bouldering and fitness with 7,000 square feet of climbing walls. The model for this business is pretty unique, because it's actually a sister indoor climbing facility to their dedicated rope-climbing gym located nearby. Already having success with an existing facility allowed them to identify how underserved their market was and craft their vision of how to address the needs of all. So, enter the plan for flowing, curved, custom-stained and expertly manufactured extra tall bouldering walls, complete with a large and...More info

The least expensive of our climbing wall options, unlike the common single layer systems from others, the SLM from Vertical Solutions doesn’t leave anything on the table in regards to strength, quality or looks.More info
